The Open Road Classic Car Hire

IAM - Institute of Advanced Motorists

The Open Road is very keen to encourage people to improve their driving and have agreed to sponsor the local branch of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM).  We are offering a prize of one day's car hire, free to the first three people in 2007 to complete the IAM course run by the Warwickshire Group of the IAM.

The IAM ‘Skill for Life’ Course makes an excellent Christmas Present at only £85 (£65 for under 26 year olds) and combined with the opportunity to win a day’s free rental of a Classic Car from The Open Road, could be a wonderful two-for-the-price-of-one gift, for anyone who starts on the next IAM course on 9th January.

Keith Madderson of the local IAM group can be contacted on 0845 045 3127 or view their website for more details www.stratfordiam.org.uk

We have also agreed a special deal with the IAM, where any IAM member (not just the local group) can receive a 10% reduction on any of our hires. The discount only applies to the Driver and we require them to produce their IAM Membership card as proof.

We have always taken our own driving seriously and in 1998 we both completed the Advanced Driver Safety course run by Peter Gethin Driving Courses Ltd.  As the Norwich Union and other classic runs invariably include the opportunity to take the cars on the track, we also both took track lessons at Silverstone.

The Peter Gethin Driving Course is very similar to training provided by the IAM, but is not so widely recognised, so Tony Merrygold is also topping up his own driving skills, by enrolling on the January 2007 course, run by the Warwickshire Group of the IAM. Obviously he won't be eligible to win one of the prizes he has donated.

Drivers who win a prize, or buy a day at the IAM Discounted rate, will be subject to our normal terms and conditions and will need to sign our standard Rental Agreement on the day of hire.
