Self Drive Classic Car Hire for Weddings and School Proms in Warwickshire

As we have taken the decision to retire from running The Open Road at the end of the 2017 season we are not able to take any wedding bookings for dates after 31 October 2017.

If you want something unusual to use as a car for your wedding, or to go to the school prom, then why not hire one of our fleet of self drive classic cars to arrive in style.

We don't provide chauffeur driven vintage Rolls Royces or stretched limousines and have better taste than to offer a stretched Hummer.

Self-drive classic car hire from The Open Road in Warwickshire enables you to have an unusual and affordable wedding car, without the formality of the traditional chauffeur driven car.

As we don't provide a chauffeur you do your own driving, this means the groom and best man can arrive in a two seater sports car, and then the groom can drive his bride away afterwards.  Or the bride can be driven to her wedding by her own father - much more special than being driven by an anonymous chauffeur.

Classic car, quirky car, performance sports car, American muscle car, the choice is up to you.

Our Self-Drive Wedding Cars in Warwickshire

The Groom and Best Man tend to want to arrive at the wedding in something more sporty and favour either our E-Type Jaguar RoadsterTriumph TR6 or Austin Healey 3000, or one of the other 2 seaters - boys and their toys!   The Bride tends to opt for something more practical - normally one of our four seaters, either of our Ford Mustangs or our Jaguar Mk2.

Occasionally grooms suggest that they fancy using our Caterham Super 7 for their wedding.  While the Caterham is a fun car it is very small and fitted with four point harnesses instead of seat belts and it leaks in the rain. The groom and best man's suits may end up looking as if they were slept in overnight, not a good look for the wedding day.  So we politely suggest the Caterham does NOT make the ideal car to hire for your wedding.

If your colour scheme is an important part of the wedding then you can pick a car based on its colour.

'Wedding Fitting Service'

Some of our sports cars have fairly small cockpits and while there is enough room for a man in a suit there may not be enough room for a bride wearing a full meringue style wedding dress. So if you are unsure if the bride in all her finery will fit in the car of your choice we are happy to offer a 'wedding fitting' service. Please phone to discuss.

Collection Service

All our cars are provided on a standard self drive hire basis and will need to be collected from The Open Road's base just outside Warwick. As you will inevitably have a busy evening at the wedding reception, we may be able to arrange for collection from the wedding venue at the end of the day, as long as the location is fairly close and we are not too busy. Collection, if feasible, would incur a charge based on 4 Pounds per mile, or 2.00 Pounds per mile if you leave a car with us and we drive it to the wedding venue to swap for our car.

School Prom Car Hire

Self drive hire Ford Mustang for school prom. The lad can't drive but mum or dad can!Our fleet of cars are regularly used to take students to school proms.  Proms are all about being seen to arrive and our cars are chosen by students who feel that white Rolls Royces are just too old fashioned and stretched Hummers or pink limousines are a bit naff, and would prefer to arrive with a different sense of style. We are not licenced to provide chauffeurs so all prom cars are supplied on our standard self drive hire basis.

Self drive Ford Mustang hire for school promIf a couple of you want to arrive at the school prom together then one of our four or five seaters is ideal and parents often spilt the costs between them.  Both our Mustangs are four seaters but are wide enough to accommodate three passengers. However the middle passenger will be sitting on the transmission tunnel hump so this is not ideal for long journeys.  Our Mark II Jaguar can add a touch of 'Inspector Morse' gravitas and like the Mustangs the rear seat can accommodate three passengers although there are only two seat belts.

Our 1965 Ford Mustang GT, or 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible can add a touch of 'Grease' to the occasion. If you want to arrive with the top down then our Jaguar E-Type or Triumph TR6 are ideal.
