Jaguar to be Featured Marque at Stratford Festival of Motoring Sunday 30 April and Monday 1st May 2017
Stratford Festival of Motoring
Planning for the 5th running of the Stratford Festival of Motoring is well under way - on Sunday 30th April and Monday 1st May 2017 - the early May Bank Holiday Weekend. This continues its usual format of two runs out into the countryside and then a mix of up to 300 classic and modern cars will all return to Stratford to park up on the closed streets of Stratford Town Centre.
In 2016 we made Wood Street (down the centre of the town) one of the main features of the Festival by filling it with high performance sports cars. While many visitors love the classic cars on show, this display in Wood Street received a huge amount of attention.
With that in mind we will be using Wood Street in a similar manner for 2017 but this time with Jaguar as the Featured Marque. We have already been promised a number of interesting Jaguars from Coventry Transport Museum and the Jaguar Heritage Trust and we expect to be able to completely fill Wood Street with Jaguars.
Closing the main streets in the town centre has been a great success since the first Festival in 2013 and we are doing the same for 2017. Cars will be parked on the following main streets: Bridge Street, Sheep Street, High Street, Wood Street, Meer Street, Henley Street, Union Street and Rother Market.
The two day Festival will again feature two "runs" through stunning Warwickshire and Gloucestershire countryside, but as ever I am looking for ways to keep them interesting. More on this nearer the time. Both runs will take place on both days with half the cars going in one direction and half in a different direction so that we don't cause traffic chaos around South Warwickshire.
There will be the usual prize giving on the Monday afternoon, for Furthest Travelled, Mayor's choice, Treasure Hunt Winner and a sponsor prize.
See the Festival website for full details and you will be able to register and pay online from December 2016.
